Apogee, 1991
After Keith Schuler made Chagunitzu for
Softdisk he got hired by Apogee software to make a sequel to the action/puzzle game.
That game became Paganitzu (Aztec for Temple of the Gods), an even better action/puzzle
game. It's got great gameplay with challenging puzzles, colorful levels and lots of
fun little secrets. Contrary to other games at the time, each episode of
Paganitzu has a very different theme. Not only the graphics are different, but the
puzzles have a different feel as well. The episodes are connected by an elaborate
story line, but the conclusion of the final episode exceeds all as it is an incredible
17 minute long cinematic!

While playing Paganitzu press F1 to go to the game menu. When you're there
press CTRL + A + L and you'll be taken to another screen. There you can enter a
number. When you enter a right number, you'll hear a sound through the PC speaker.
The right numbers are:
325 | 99 Lives |
589 | Show end sequence |
642 | God mode on |
643 | God mode off |
7xx | Level warp, where xx is the level to warp to and 01 <= xx < 21 |
723 | Normal point value (episode 1 only) |
822 | Double point value |
823 | Normal point value (episode 2 and 3 only) |

There are four secret warp levels in episode three of Paganitzu. Two of them are
actually Chagunitzu levels reused.
Keith Schuler implemented those as sort of an Easter egg, but he never told the guys at
Apogee about them until after the game had shipped (otherwise it wouldn't be a secret
). So hints on how to enter these levels didn't
make it onto the hint sheet that came with the game. Keith never wrote down how to access these
secret warp levels, and now he doesn't remember how to reach them anymore.
But we do know how to get to all four of these warp levels!
To access warp level 1 you only have to push a blue demon next to an exit, so the exit
will disappear. When you move Alabama Smith to the position where the exit was,
you'll be taken to the first warp level.

|
| |
This can be done on every level that has a blue demon in it, like level 11 and level 14.
Unfortunately I haven't found a way to do this without using god mode. Warp level 1
is the same as level 3 of Chagunitzu.
|
| |
|
| |
For the second warp level you'll have to be in level 14. In that level
you must bug the upper blue demon a few times. He'll get so annoyed at you that he
will curse you with devilosis.
|
| |
|
| |
Now go to level 21. At the center of this level there are two positions inside a
ring where you normally can't get to, but when an acute devilosis attack strikes you, you
can get there. When you are inside the ring, wait until you change back into Alabama
Smith and you'll be warped to the second warp level.
|
| |
|
| |
The third warp level is a bit easier to access. Go to level 13 and play
this level just like you normally would. Now go to the bottom of this level.
There's a place where you must walk two times. That place is displayed in the
following screenshot. The second time you stand there, that piece of string at the
left-hand side of this level will disappear and an entrance to the third warp level will
appear. Warp level 3 looks a lot like level 12 of Chagunitzu.

|
| |
Thanks to this guy named Clinton we know how to access the fourth warp level. All you need to do is get to level 19 and pick up the
first diamond last.
